Madison – The Friends of Scott Walker campaign is calling on Mary Burke, Madison School Board member and Democrat candidate for governor, to pull her slanderous campaign ad from the airwaves in light of a statement released today by the special prosecutor in the John Doe.
Burke’s ad, “June 20th,” uses defunct, inaccurate reporting in an effort to slander Governor Walker. Two judges have ruled that there is no case, and prosecutors have now stated clearly that Governor Walker was not a target of the investigation and also:
It is wrong for any person to point to this sentence in a legal argument as a finding by the Special Prosecutor that Governor Walker has engaged in a criminal scheme. lt is not such a finding.
“Mary Burke’s ad is slanderous at best and it should pulled from the airwaves immediately,” said Stephan Thompson, Friends of Scott Walker Campaign Manager. “Failure to remove this ad would be dishonest and misleading to Wisconsin voters by furthering baseless allegations and inaccurate reporting.”
In addition to calling on Mary Burke to remove her slanderous ad from the airwaves, the Walker campaign will be calling on television stations to remove Burke's ad.
