Fighting for conservative values

Forward USA PAC fights to advance conservative values forward that protect our way of life and allow our economy to operate in a free and fair society. Join us as we work to move our country forward through conservative values.

Summary of Time as Governor

Wisconsin was facing an economic and fiscal crisis when we first took office. Unemployment had peaked at more than 9 percent in early 2010. The state government had a budget deficit that legally required action and we inherited a budget gap of $3.6 billion. We took action.

Instead of temporary fixes, we enacted comprehensive reforms that took the power from the big government special interests and put it into the hands of the hard-working taxpayers. Our reforms worked.

Since 2011, the taxpayers of Wisconsin have saved more than $13 billion. The state budget was balanced every year we were in office. And the pension system is fully-funded: ranked number 1 in the nation.

During our time in office, more people were working in Wisconsin than ever before, unemployment dropped to an all-time low below 3 percent, and household income went up. We got Wisconsin working again.

Our reforms ended seniority and tenure. Now schools, state and local governments can staff based on merit and pay based on performance. That means they can put the best and the brightest in the classroom. Wisconsin students continue to have some of the highest graduation rates and overall test scores in the nation.

Students at government-run schools benefited from our reforms, as did students at other schools too. We expanded vouchers statewide to give parents more options for their children. We supported charter school and home school families. I trust parents to make the right choice for their children.

It was my honor to enact some of the most comprehensive welfare reform, legal reform, civil service reform, prevailing wage, regulatory reform, and overall reform in the nation. We also enacted right to carry, Castle Doctrine, pro-life protections, defunded Planned Parenthood, Right to Work, and photo ID to vote. Overall, we enacted some of the most common-sense conservative reforms in America. If it can work in a blue state like Wisconsin, it can work anywhere.

Protests and Recall

The left did not like our reforms.

The big government union bosses could no longer forcibly take union dues out of the paychecks. They couldn’t force public servants to endorse their radical agendas. They couldn’t force local governments to buy health insurance from their affiliated companies.

Our opponents were upset.

First, it was hundreds, then thousands, and tens of thousands. Eventually, more than 100,000 protestors occupied the Wisconsin state Capitol square. They ignored the orders of Capitol Police. Eventually, a court order pushed them out. Later, many stormed back in – crawling through windows, breaking down doors, and running over law enforcement.

In the end, we were not intimidated.

Even with the death threats and the protests and the riots, we did not back down. On June 5, 2012, I became the first Governor in American history to win a recall election. The left had overreached. We ultimately won three elections for Governor in four years and served two terms.

Thank you to the thousands of people -

in Wisconsin and around the nation – who helped us during those difficult times. We are grateful for the people who volunteered to knock on doors, make phone calls, take voters to the polls; the people who donated to our efforts and helped raise resources from others; and to all those who prayed for me, our family, and our team. Thank you all!

Young America’s Foundation (YAF)

On February 1, 2021, I became the President of Young America’s Foundation (YAF). It was my honor to follow the conservative icon Ron Robinson who built YAF into the leading conservative youth organization in the nation.

Young America’s Foundation (YAF)

At YAF, we train the next generation of America’s freedom fighters. We have individual and chapter members on campuses, bring in more conservative speakers than any other group, hold life-changing conferences, seminars, and events; and own and operate the Reagan Ranch, Reagan Ranch Center, and Reagan Boyhood Home.

It is God’s providence that I am in this position at this time in history. In so many ways, America is under siege. We see it on our campuses, in our culture, and even in our communications with the censorship of Big Tech. What we’re seeing didn’t happen overnight. The left has been at this for decades.

In addition to engaging in the battles of the day, we need a plan to win the war for the heart and soul of our republic. With that in mind, we introduced the Long Game. It is a 12-point action plan to take back our country—starting with our youth.
