A $100 million plan to improve school safety in Wisconsin is “critically important for students,” Gov. Scott Walker said Monday after he signed the bill into law in front of fourth-graders at Victor Haen Elementary School.
The action was taken only days after thousands of people in Wisconsin — and hundreds of thousands of people across the country — participated in student-led marches to protest gun violence and advocate for school safety.
“Schools are already safe places in this state,” Walker said. “This will help make sure they’re even safer going forward.”
