SPARTA, Wis. (WEAU) — Veterans Day is Friday, but some people, including Governor Scott Walker, celebrated a day early.
Walker made a visit to Fort McCoy on Thursday to participate in the Veterans Day Prayer Luncheon.
He talked about the importance of getting to know local service members in every community, even as fewer people serve in the military than in past decades.
“People need to understand they need to know people they work with, they’re families with, they go to church with, know those who are serving in the military, even if it’s on a part time basis, because that instills that kind of support and understand for not only the service that our military provides but also the sacrifices inherent in it,” Walker said.
