Governor Scott Walker visited Kenall Manufacturing Monday, touting a surplus lowering the unemployment insurance tax for Wisconsin employers.
The unemployment insurance trust is currently about $1 billion, initiating a legislated reduction in the unemployment insurance tax.
Over the last two years, such reductions have amounted to $135 million dollars, Walker said.
“That’s real money,” he said. “That’s less money they’re paying for the unemployment insurance tax for the state, that’s more money that can go back into infrastructure, that can go into employees’ benefits and wages.”
