Local fast food workers got a little help behind the counter Tuesday as part of the Take Your Legislator to Work Initiative.
Governor Scott Walker visited McDonald’s in New London to draw attention to the importance of employment for those with disabilities.
It’s part of larger annual event put on by the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities, that includes other legislators.
Walker says hiring people with a disability creates a more inclusive and accepting community.
He also said these jobs help provide security and independence for people, which allows them to utilize their talents at work.
